NorthWestern selects Active Risk Manager from Strategic Thought for ERM

Herndon, VA, Mar. 24, 2006 — Strategic Thought Inc. announced that NorthWestern Corp. has signed a contract to implement Active Risk Manager as part of its new enhanced enterprise risk management (ERM) initiative.

Active Risk Manager, a web based enterprise risk management software solution, has been selected to replace an existing manual process. The new ERM process is expected to assist NorthWestern in terms of its Sarbanes-Oxley Act compliance requirements and the company hopes it will improve information and communication mechanisms to allow the organization to develop a successful and proactive Operational Risk Management program.

The initial installation of Active Risk Manager will take place in the NorthWestern operations office in Butte, Montana.

“In response to Sarbanes-Oxley Act requirements, the board of directors adopted a code of ethics for the chief executive officer and senior financial officers and complaint procedures for the audit committee of the board concerning accounting, internal accounting controls and auditing matters. We look forward to ensuring Active Risk Manager forms a core part of the new ERM framework being implemented by the organization,” said Karl Pringle, general manager of Strategic Thought Inc.
