NRG to buy two coal fired power plants in New England

NRG is increasing its stake in merchant electric generation in New England. The merchant power company, with 15,000 MW of generation, already owns 2,234 MW in Connecticut. The current purchase will add base-load generation to its generation portfolio in that state.

HARRISBURG, Pa., Dec. 27, 2000 (PRNewswire) – John R. Marshall, president of Duquesne Light Company, and Chairman of the Board of the recently formed Energy Association of Pennsylvania announced the election of Kenneth G. Lawrence, president of PECO Energy Company, as chairman and Michael E. Bray, president of PPL Utilities as vice chairman for 2001.
