NW Natural and PGE Begin Joint Meter Reading Program

The innovative joint meter reading trial program involves about 30,000 residential and commercial gas and electric meters in the Portland area. If the trial is successful, NW Natural and PGE plan to expand the project to include a total of 322,000 NW Natural meters and 713,000 PGE meters by the end of the year.

FirstEnergy Corp.’s transition plan has been approved by the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO). The plan covers the company’s Ohio electric utility operating companies-Ohio Edison, The Illuminating Company and Toledo Edison-in accordance with the state’s electricity restructuring law, which provides for customer choice beginning January 1, 2001.
