NxtPhase signs agreement with E/PRO to provide turnkey electric power recording solutions

VANCOUVER, BC, Feb 26, 2004 — NxtPhase Corp., a provider of digital and fiber optic solutions for the electric power industry, announced a partnership with E/PRO Engineering and Environmental Consulting to provide turnkey electric power recording solutions.

In addition to its line of disturbance fault recorders, NxtPhase now provides a range of engineering services to help customers incorporate our disturbance fault recorders into their overall system.

Events such as the August 2003 blackout have prompted many utilities to seek improvements to their recording capabilities. Disturbance data gained from a well-designed recording system can be key to improving system stability, capturing data for external parties, and understanding dynamics of the fault itself.

However with limited staffing budgets, many customers find that they lack the extra engineering resources to plan and install new systems in the timeframe they require. This partnership enables NxtPhase to offer customers a range of services to fill that need, including facility assessment, panel layout, panel construction, installation, commissioning, testing, and training of utility personnel.

“NxtPhase already has a great reputation for recording performance,” said Jeff Vaughan, NxtPhase Director of Product Marketing for Relays and Recorders. “This partnership enables us to broaden that solution. Not only do we address our customer’s product needs, but we now offer a complete service solution to the challenges they face.”

E/PRO’s broad North American network of engineers includes experts in electrical, civil, mechanical, and structural engineering. They offer project management, training, and quality assurance specialists to help utilities plan their recording project.

“NxtPhase recorders are robust and easy to use,” said Everett Fennell, P.E., Manager of Operations at E/PRO. “Our team is excited to expand that offering with a complete selection of planning and installation services for NxtPhase customers.”
