NYPA Will Purchase Gas Turbine Units to Assure Adequate Electricity

The trustees authorized the purchase of up to eleven gas turbine generator sets from General Electric Packaged Power Inc. at a cost of up to $220 million.

WESTBOROUGH, Mass.-TransEnergie US, Hydro-Quebec’s U.S. transmission subsidiary, has accepted a proposal submitted by the Long Island Power Authority (LIPA) in response to TransEnergie US’s Open Season for transmission capacity over the Cross Sound Cable (CSC) Interconnector which link Connecticut and New York state. Under the terms of LIPA’s winning proposal, LIPA will contract for all of the capacity (approximately 330 megawatts) of the first phase of the CSC Interconnector.
