Montreal, Quebec, November 18, 2002 — Olameter Inc. announced that they have received approval from the New York State Public Service Commission to act as a Meter Data Service Provider (MDSP) in the State of New York.
The certification entitles Olameter to provide metering and energy-related services, including meter reading, data collection, billing services, validation, data aggregation, editing and estimation (VEE), on-demand reads, load profiling, load curtailment and to be able to participate in other energy-related management projects throughout the State.
“We are very pleased to earn this important certification,” said Jan Peeters, CEO of Olameter. “New York State is the fourth largest energy consumption in the United States, and we look forward to the opportunity to work with ESCOs and their customers to bring advanced metering services.”
This is the first certification Olameter has received in the United States. “New York State’s deregulated electricity market has developed and prospered because it ensured that there was a robust competition in power production and allowed for competitive metering when reforms were enacted,” said Mr. Peeters.
In addition, Olameter’s Meter Test Facilities located in Mississauga, Ontario have also been approved by the New York Commission to calibrate, repair, and provide meter test for utilities and end-use customers throughout New York State. The Meter Shop is also accredited by Measurement Canada and adheres to Quality Assurance Standards and is traceable to the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).
