Online Energy Firm to Offer Free Internet Services

SAN JOSE, CALIF.-Calpine Corp. has announced that it will develop, own and construct a $430 million natural gas-fired, combined-cycle power generation facility in Haywood County, Tenn. The proposed Haywood Energy Center represents Calpine’s fourth project that will interconnect with the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA). The facility will generate approximately 770 MW of electricity, with the capability of generating an additional 120 MW to help meet peak summer power demand. Commercial operation is scheduled to begin in mid-2004.
