Panel of researchers reads tea leaves for AMR

TAMPA, Fla., Sept. 28, 2000 – Automatic meter reading equipment has seen more market penetration, sales and overall growth in the last year, a panel of industry experts agreed. And the next few years should bring more of the same.

HOUSTON, Sept. 28, 2000–Reliant Energy has announced a $25 million equity investment in Grande Communications. Grande Communications, a Central Texas-based communications company, is building a broadband network that will offer bundled services, including high-speed Internet, all-distance telephone and advanced cable entertainment to homes and businesses. The investment is expected to close upon receipt of approval under the Hart Scott Rodino Act. Reliant Energy also committed, under certain conditions, to invest a similar amount in a future Grande Communications equity financing.
