Pennsylvania utility protests energy company’s bid action

Oct. 24, 2000 (Knight Ridder/Tribune) –Green Mountain Energy Co. filed a petition with the state Public Utility Commission Monday protesting a decision by PECO Energy to ignore its bid for a provider-of-last-resort contract in favor of a higher bid from The New Power Co.

Oct. 23, 2000–Honeywell International Inc. is merging with General Electric Co. through a stock-swap valued at $45 billion, plus another $3 billion in assumed debt. That acquisition, the biggest ever for GE, was hammered out over the weekend, company officials said Monday.
