PNM selects Brio Performance Suite as enterprise standard

SANTA CLARA, Calif., Sept. 17, 2002 — Brio Software Inc., a provider of next-generation business intelligence tools, recently announced that PNM, New Mexico’s largest utility, has standardized on the Brio Performance Suiteà¢â€ž- to provide decision-makers with critical information that guides business strategy and operational decisions.

Brio Intelligenceà¢â€ž-, a primary component of Brio’s suite, will be used throughout the State of New Mexico to gather data from multiple data sources and present the results to decision-makers in easy-to-understand graphic and numeric reports.

“We chose Brio after carefully analyzing all the leading business intelligence products. Simply put, Brio offers robust functionality that is just easier to use, deploy and maintain,” stated Grif Newcom, manager of enterprise architecture, PNM. “With Brio, we’ll launch our solution much sooner. We don’t need to wait until all our data marts are complete. Brio Intelligence provides an easy transition, with no disruption in reporting, as we migrate from our current data sources to new data marts.”

PNM serves 1.3 million people in more than 100 communities throughout New Mexico. The company employs about 2,700 people, making it the eighth-largest private employer in New Mexico. By the end of September, the Brio solution will provide valuable HR, financial, customer, and operational data to hundreds of decision-makers throughout the company.

Employees are eager to begin using Brio, as their old method of asking IT to write custom reports and waiting for results hasn’t been meeting their needs. The organization is also frustrated by data inconsistency. Figures pulled from one source system can be completely different from figures pulled from another system. The new solution not only empowers employees to easily create their own reports, it also consolidates data so that data integrity is assured.

“PNM’s Brio solution will help PNM deliver the performance results their customers and shareholders expect, especially in recently’s challenging energy environment. With timely, easy-to-use and easy-to-understand reports, PNM decision-makers will gain superior insight into their operations so better, faster decisions will result,” stated Mike Levine, executive vice president of sales, general manager of the Americas, Brio Software. “We are gratified in knowing that Brio tools will be used to create these performance improvements at PNM. It’s an ideal match between customer need and product functionality.”
