Proposal would cut Con Ed’s T&D rates $1.4 billion

NEW YORK, Oct. 4, 2000—Transmission and distribution rates for customers of Consolidated Edison Co. of New York Inc. will be reduced by $1.4 billion over 5 years, if the New York Public Service Commission (PSC) approves a proposal filed Tuesday. The settlement agreement also recommends the commission approve Con Edison’s merger with Northeast Utilities.
