PUCO approves AEP transition plans

“The plans came before us as a settlement in which the overwhelming majority of intervenors either supported or did not oppose the resolution of the very complex issues inherent in these cases,” Schriber added. “Nevertheless, the Commissioners carefully scrutinized every aspect of the settlements and determined that approval is in the public interest. Considered in its totality, we believe that our order approving the settlement will provide AEP customers the protection they are entitled to, along with the opportunity to acclimate themselves to the idea of shopping for electricity.”

HOUSTON, Sept. 28, 2000—Reliant Energy has announced a $25 million equity investment in Grande Communications. Grande Communications, a Central Texas-based communications company, is building a broadband network that will offer bundled services, including high-speed Internet, all-distance telephone and advanced cable entertainment to homes and businesses. The investment is expected to close upon receipt of approval under the Hart Scott Rodino Act. Reliant Energy also committed, under certain conditions, to invest a similar amount in a future Grande Communications equity financing.
