Puget Sound Energy chooses Silicon Energy for enhanced energy information services

ALAMEDA, Calif., October 25, 2002 — Silicon Energy Corp. announced that Puget Sound Energy (PSE) will expand its Silicon Energy EEM Suite implementation by providing its customers with enhanced energy management services to better understand and manage energy usage, reduce energy costs and improve energy conservation efforts.

Puget Sound Energy (PSE) plans to offer service to 25,000 commercial and industrial customers currently on their automated meter reading (AMR) network — two-way wireless system that sends energy use information from customer facilities to PSE.

The EEM Suite enables PSE to provide their commercial and industrial customers with the ability to manage energy in even greater detail. New integrated services include the ability for the customer to monitor multiple facilities to ensure operations are optimized, compare rate schedules, and download energy usage information for on-site analysis.

In addition, customers who want a more turnkey approach for energy analysis may create personalized energy reports using the custom tools of EEM Suite – My Favorite Reports.

“The new offering will provide our business customers with enhanced and automated tools to show where, how much and when their facilities are using energy,” said Bob Stolarski, Manager of Commercial and Industrial Conservation, Puget Sound Energy.

“The information provided by the EEM Suite will allow PSE’s business customers to identify areas where there are energy inefficiencies and help manage and control their energy costs.”

The EEM Suite solution offered to PSE customers includes energy data reporting and analysis, plus energy bill cost analysis. Self-help analytical tools will allow its customers to:

* Monitor and compare energy use across facilities to ensure optimal operations
* Determine largest cost drivers
* Compare energy costs and usage from any two time periods
* Project future energy use and energy spend
* Compare different rate schedules

With the EEM Suite solution, PSE customers can also export data into Excel and compare it with their own specific data as a further way to view and investigate cause and effect relationships between energy usage and other non-energy variables.
