Puget Sound Energy pioneers variable electricity pricing for residences

June 18, 2001—In a landmark pilot program, hundreds of thousands of Washington state residential consumers can cut their power bills by choosing to buy electricity at the cheapest time of the day.

NEW YORK, June 18, 2001 — Consolidated Edison Company of New York, Inc. (Con Edison) announced today that it is seeking review of a Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) order on the company’s proposal to correct flaws in the New York wholesale electric marketplace that allow power generators to exercise market power.
