ReGENco announces CT rotor facility

WEST ALLIS, WI – April 23, 2004 – In a move designed to further expand its CT service capabilities, ReGENco, of West Allis, WI announced today that they have entered into an alliance with Paul Tucker of First Independent Rotor Services of Texas (F.I.R.S.T.) to establish a “state-of-the-art”, CT rotor repair facility in West Allis.

The agreement with F.I.R.S.T. is comprehensive in nature and will include Tucker’s long-term involvement in directly overseeing and supporting ReGENco’s rotor repairs in the West Allis facility.

Under the agreement, ReGENco’s ability to service large GE and W industrial combustion turbine rotors will be supported exclusively by industry standard repair processes, unique tooling, and ergonomically advanced repair methodologies provided by F.I.R.S.T. This expansion will position ReGENco as the only independent supplier in the Midwest able to service steam turbine, combustion turbine and generator rotors all “under one roof”.

According to John C. Bobrowich, ReGENco’s President & CEO, “the agreement with Paul Tucker and F.I.R.S.T. will assure that our facility will offer the CT rotor repairs of a caliber consistent with the high standards of our current ST and generator repair businesses. Our agreement with Paul is unique in that he will be actively involved in establishing our gas turbine rotor repair operational guidelines, providing technically applied processes and applying a new approach in rotor repair process flow for ReGENco’s gas turbine rotor initiative. We are very pleased to have Paul and his company on board”.

According to Paul Tucker, F.I.R.S.T President & CEO, “ReGENco’s 160,000 square foot facility is ideally suited to combustion turbine rotor repair. In December, ReGENco announced the formation of an alliance with Liburdi Engineering for hot gas path repair. The alliance has already completed their first major project together.

Drawing upon the large local pool of skilled turbine and generator engineers and craft labor, ReGENco has created the largest, and most capable non-OEM repair facility, which includes the industry’s largest, independently owned high-speed balance bunker and low speed balance and lathing center. F.I.R.S.T. is a wholly owned subsidiary of TBS LLP. F.I.R.S.T. was privately formed in 2003 and is a consulting company that provides technical consulting to oil refineries, independent power producers, utilities and repair shops in North & South America, Europe and Southeast Asia. The company provides expert advice in the field of gas and steam turbine rotor and component repair.
