Regulator: In open market, coal will thrive

HOUSTON, Mar. 19, 2001–With gas the dominant fuel for most new electricity capacity, many in the industry feel pessimistic about the future of coal-fired power plants in the US.

Denver, Colo, March 19, 2001–The National Renewable Energy Laboratory is offering separate tours of NREL’s Photovoltaic Outdoor Test Facility and the National Wind Technology Center, a presentation on wind energy and a workshop on the climate change issue are offered in coming weeks. The events are part of NREL’s Powering Our Lives, Powering Our World Energy Expo, which runs through April.
