Report Finds Continued AMR Growth

Cognyst Consulting has published the 6th edition of “The Scott Report: AMR Deployments in North America.” The report is the result of a research effort covering the market for automatic meter reading (AMR) systems, devices and services in North America.

Among the findings of the newest edition of the report:

  • Total AMR shipments grew by 29.5 percent from 2000 to 2001.
  • Electric utilities represent almost 60 percent of total new units shipped; water utilities represent almost 70 percent of new projects.
  • The number of units shipped in North America has grown for the third year in a row.

The Scott Report is a third-party AMR report based on shipping records of the suppliers providing AMR systems and units. Supplier participation in the report accounts for more than 98 percent of all market activity, according to Cognyst Consulting.
