SAIC signs IT services agreement with Calpine

SAN DIEGO, Calif., Aug. 20, 2002 — Science Applications International Corp. (SAIC) recently announced the signing of an estimated $31 million, three-year information technology (IT) services agreement with Calpine Corp., an independent power company, based in San Jose, Calif.

SAIC will furnish help desk, server, desktop support, network, voice and video services to more than 3,300 Calpine employees in 126 locations throughout the United States and Canada.

“Through this agreement, we are officially establishing an IT alliance with Calpine,” said Mark Pierson, SAIC senior vice president and manager of the Energy Technologies & Services Group. “Collaborating with two entrepreneurial cultures that recognize and value creativity and flexibility can contribute to increasing Calpine’s ability to respond to changing business needs, while improving customer service, usability and lowering costs.”

Under the terms of the agreement, SAIC will support Calpine’s IT service delivery function beginning in late August. The contract also allows for consulting, applications and project services.
