SchlumbergerSema wins Niagara Mohawk contract

West Union, SC, October 15, 2002 — SchlumbergerSema has won a three-year contract to deliver 1.5 million residential CENTRON* AMR and SENTINEL* commercial and industrial electricity meters to Niagara Mohawk, with an estimated contract value of $70 million.

The CENTRON and SENTINEL solid-state meter families of products were completed in 2002, and are part of an automatic drive-by meter reading system that will be deployed into seven regions in New York state over a period of three years. Niagara Mohawk plans to kick off the project for about 5,000 Central New Yorkers on October 1, 2002.

” We are pleased that Niagara Mohawk has chosen to go with the CENTRON technology, the first electronic meter for the electric residential market, ” said Malcolm Unsworth, president, Schlumberger Electricity, Inc. ” We have shipped over four million CENTRON meters since the line’s launch in 1998. It is a proven technology that meets today’s needs with a design for tomorrow’s challenges.”
