SCT and Atmos expand long-time strategic relationship

MALVERN, Pa., Jan. 30, 2002 — SCT, a global provider of e-business solutions, and Atmos Energy Corporation have announced a significant extension to the current agreements between the two companies.

Atmos has expanded its license for SCT’s industry- Banner® customer management system (CMS) solutions in support of its pending acquisition of Mississippi Valley Gas Company. This contract with Atmos Energy Corporation was signed during SCT’s first fiscal quarter, which ended December 31, 2001.

SCT Banner CMS is important for the Atmos long-term strategy to continue to grow through acquisitions. In an effort to serve its customers more efficiently, Atmos plans to use additional SCT solutions, including EnerLink, the industry complex billing and real-time pricing solutions; eDashâ„-, the first knowledge management portal designed expressly for the utility industry; and Customer Web Access, which allows energy customers self- service capability via the World Wide Web.

In addition to expanding its license, Atmos also is working with SCT to develop a CMS migration plan. It will include bringing certain Atmos modifications into SCT’s base product and moving Atmos to the most current versions of SCT products. This program is consistent with SCT’s aim to minimize customization of the Banner system. Incorporating modifications into the base offerings can help to decrease a client’s long-term cost of use while increasing the base functionality of the Banner solution.

“Banner software provides customer information and billing services for our 1.4 million customers in 11 states,” said Les Duncan, vice president and chief information officer of Atmos. “One of our business strategies is to grow through acquisitions. By eliminating the customer count restrictions on the SCT products we’ve licensed, we effectively acquire rights of use of those products for all future Atmos acquisitions. We look forward to continuing to grow with SCT products.”

“Our strong relationship is valuable to both Atmos and SCT for long-range planning,” said John Gregg, president of SCT’s global energy, utilities and communications solutions. “Our solutions address specific industry challenges that can allow our clients to maintain a competitive position. SCT’s Banner Suite can help companies like Atmos continue to grow and succeed by increasing customer satisfaction at a lower cost of software ownership.”
