Seattle announces aggressive policies to combat global warming

The City Council was scheduled later in the day to vote on resolutions supporting the goals of the Kyoto Protocol and committing Seattle City Light — the city’s public electric utility — to a policy of zero net greenhouse gas emissions.

MORRISTOWN, N.J., July 23, 2001 — GPU, Inc. said today that the administrative law judge hearing the case concerning the proposed merger of GPU and FirstEnergy Corp for the Board of Public Utilities has given the parties until August 13 to report on the status of their continuing settlement discussions.
