Secretary Abraham submits letter on energy bill to House-Senate Conference committee

WASHINGTON, DC, July 1, 2002 — Secretary of Energy Spencer Abraham has released the text of a letter sent to Congressman Billy Tauzin who serves as chairman of the House-Senate Conference committee that will meet to reconcile differences in the two versions of the energy legislation currently before Congress.

Secretary Abraham’s letter explains that the Administration seeks a balanced, comprehensive energy bill that improves the nation’s energy security, creates jobs and benefits consumers while reducing our reliance on foreign sources of energy, protecting the environment, increasing conservation, improving energy efficiency and expanding the use of new technologies and renewable energy sources.
