SAN DIEGO, Feb. 4, 2002 — Sempra Energy Solutions announced the rollout of its EnergyChoice program, a comprehensive portfolio of electricity, natural gas and environmental products and services that benefits businesses in states with deregulated energy markets.
Sempra EnergyChoice is a new service that provides large commercial and industrial customers with budget stability and the opportunity to reduce energy costs. Sempra Energy Solutions developed the program after its successful campaign in California, where the company helped customers who would have paid higher prices if they had remained customers of their local utilities.
“We are approaching the market with this flexible service to help businesses make the most of deregulation,” said Bob Dickerman, president of Sempra Energy Solutions. “Energy markets are volatile and difficult to understand, and yet energy is an expense that has a significant impact on the bottom line for most businesses.”
The EnergyChoice program is designed to help customers achieve three key goals: budget stability, cost savings, and quality energy service. Dickerman said that Sempra Energy Solutions is actively marketing a flexible program that ensures these goals are achieved by offering either fixed prices or a variable load plan. The program works because, through Sempra EnergyChoice, customers can opt for a price option that best matches their energy use requirements and, Dickerman said, customers can achieve savings they would not otherwise realize.
Recently, Sempra Energy Solutions commissioned a survey of large customers and found that 80 percent of those polled cited the cost of energy as a top concern. Dickerman said that Sempra Energy Solutions would continue to launch several more products offering customers additional opportunities to reduce their total energy costs.
“With deregulation and the volatility of energy markets, the cost of energy has become a central focus for many businesses,” Dickerman said. “Now with EnergyChoice, businesses can capture the benefits of deregulation and better control their overall energy costs.”
