Shell Energy signs 5-year Texas power deal with Calpine

HOUSTON, Texas, July 18, 2001 – Shell Energy Services Co. LLC, a unit of Shell Oil Co., and Calpine Corp. Wednesday reported signing an energy agreement under which Calpine will provide up to 3,000 Mw of electricity to Shell, a retail electricity provider participating in the Texas electric choice pilot program.

DALLAS, TX, and COLUMBUS, OH, July 18, 2001 – The Trent Mesa Project, a wind-power generation facility under construction near Abilene, Texas, is being expanded to 150,000 kilowatts of production from 130,000 kilowatts under an agreement between TXU Corp. (NYSE: TXU), the buyer of Trent Mesa௿½s electricity output, and American Electric Power (NYSE: AEP), the builder, owner and operator of the facility.
