MALVERN, Pa., Feb. 26, 2002 — SCT, a global provider of e-business solutions, announced today that Nevada Power Company, a unit of Sierra Pacific Resources, implemented SCT’s Banner Customer Information System (CIS) solution, which will serve over 650,000 electric customers.
The Banner CIS solution replaces a mainframe legacy system and provides Nevada Power with the ability to offer a much higher level of customer service than before. With the flexibility of Banner’s rate structure process, Nevada Power can now react to rate changes more quickly.
In addition, Banner CIS makes management information more readily accessible and integration among various components simple and straightforward. Nevada Power technicians are already benefiting from this integration as they are able to enter service orders directly into handheld devices in the field.
“The major factor when we selected Banner CIS was its capability to handle deregulation, in addition to its ability to handle traditional utility functions,” said Carol Marin, vice president of customer service for Sierra Pacific and Nevada Power.
“Since then, the electric utility industry has changed. With the energy crisis in the West, Nevada law regarding deregulation has completely changed. The entire power industry has been in absolute turmoil for the past year and we’re experiencing our highest energy rates and getting more calls than ever before. Our main goal right now is to provide excellent customer service, and with a functionally robust system like Banner CIS, we have been able to change gears with ease.”
