SimSci-Esscor to distribute optimization and process simulation software solutions via Internet

LAKE FOREST, Calif., Jan. 7, 2004 — SimSci-Esscor, an operating unit of Invensys plc, recently announced it plans to provide access to its Upstream Optimization Suite and its Process Engineering Suite (PES) solutions for petrochemical and energy companies via the Internet.

On-demand distribution of the industrial software simulation and optimization products will be offered to current SimSci-Esscor customers on a monthly trial and subscription basis through PetrisWINDS NOW!à¢â€ž-, an application services provider (ASP) to the oil, gas and energy industries. Customers can evaluate and benefit from the capabilities and value offered by PES and optimization suite products through Petris’ Web-based environment.

“Aligning with an experienced service provider like Petris, SimSci-Esscor is able to reach a much broader market and demonstrate how its products can reduce the internal support requirements of our customers while extending the life of their existing hardware,” said Marty Kurowski, SimSci-Esscor’s vice president of marketing. “By simplifying the method of offering immediate access to our applications, we also enable our customers to reduce their capital expenditures while making these solutions an integral part of a more efficient operational process.”

Engineers, pipeline designers, production technologists and reservoir planning engineers can immediately access SimSci-Esscor’s solutions through a single contract with Petris. SimSci-Esscor products available through Petris include PRO/II, Datacon, Hextran, Visual Flow and Inplant. These Process Engineering Suite products improve engineering productivity and increase plant profitability through process engineering design and operational analysis.

“This distribution option is an ideal solution for remote offices, independent contractors, consultants and engineering companies, as it lifts the restrictions of having to work in a specific location during normal office hours,” Kurowski said. “Through secure online access, SimSci-Esscor customers can utilize our simulation and optimization solutions anytime, anyplace, and know that they always have the most upgraded, state-of-the-art tools at their disposal to complete their job.”

SimSci-Esscor’s Upstream Optimization Suite of products, used for integrated field-wide production analysis, combines the specific modeling needs of the upstream sector with the company’s simulation and optimization expertise. Customers can access SimSci-Esscor’s Pipephase, NETOP and Tacite solutions to solve their oil and gas asset management problems, significantly increases overall asset-wide production or improve their well designs and performance.
