Southern Co. announces wholesale power agreement with FMPA

Atlanta, GA, Feb. 28, 2006 — Southern Co. announced that it has signed a long-term wholesale power agreement with Florida Municipal Power Agency (FMPA).

Under the agreement, Southern Co. will provide approximately 160 megawatts of electric capacity and energy to FMPA. Service under the agreement will commence in late 2007 and run for a term of at least 15 years.

Capacity and energy to serve FMPA will be supplied from Plant Oleander, which is located in Cocoa, Fla. Plant Oleander is owned by Southern Power, a subsidiary of Southern Co.
