Southern Company names chief transmission officer

Dearman will have management responsibility for all transmission functions and organizations within Southern Company. He will represent Southern Company on transmission issues before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and work with national and regional transmission-related organizations.

Dec. 15, 2000–With California on the brink of blackouts Thursday for the second time this week, U.S. Energy Sec. Bill Richardson formally issued an emergency order requiring generators and marketers to make power available to the California grid operator.
