Southwest Gas Corporation agrees to purchase DB Microware’s ARCSs™ software

PLANO, TEXAS, July 22, 2004 — DB Microware announced it has reached an agreement with Southwest Gas Corporation (www.swgas.com) to implement the Automated Route Control System (ARCS) with the ARCS/GIS Mapping Option. Southwest Gas, a Las Vegas, Nevada based natural gas utility, identified a need for a route control system to help manage growth in its distribution area that serves more than 1.5 million customers across Nevada, Arizona, and California.

In addition, ARCS will help them manage the deployment of mobile AMR technology. Using the ARCS/GIS Mapping Option, Southwest Gas will be able to use a geographic street-level representation of its meter reading routes. Combined with actual meter reading history data, the map representation will enable Southwest Gas to consolidate meter reading routes and increase the efficiency of its meter readers.

Southwest Gas joins the ranks of more than 80 utilities that use DB Microware’s ARCS System to manage its meter reading process for more than 50 million connected customers. In addition, DB Microware’s software is used by 32 of the largest 100 utilities in the United States.

“Southwest Gas continually explores opportunities to enable our employees to work smarter,” said Dudley Sondeno, the Southwest Gas Senior Vice President/Chief Knowledge and Technology Officer. “We believe the ARCS, along with the Mapping Option, will help make our meter readers as efficient as possible and continue to meet our customers’ expectations for safe, dependable service.”

Charles (Chuck) C. DiLaura, President of Neptune Technology Group Inc., states, “We are pleased that Southwest Gas has chosen ARCS as its route control solution. By implementing the DB Microware ARCS software, we are confident that Southwest Gas will more efficiently manage its growing meter reading routes and ultimately recognize significant operational and administrative cost savings along the way”.

Southwest Gas Corporation purchases, transports, and distributes natural gas to more than 1.5 million homes and businesses in geographically diverse portions of Arizona, Nevada and California. Its service territories are centered in the fastest-growing region of the country.
