Springfield City utilities replace legacy CIS with SPL

City utilities of Springfield, Missouri, recently chose SPL WorldGroup`s CIS PLUS© solution to replace its legacy customer information system. A multi-service utility unit with 92,000 customers, and more than 230,000 natural gas, electric, and water service points, the utilities needed a significantly more flexible system that would upgrade its customer support services and arm it for future growth. Including both licensing fees and implementation services, the bulk of the city`s project began in January 2000.

The president and CEO of SPL said the he primary impetus for the replacement of the city utilities` legacy system was its age and the need for more flexibility to effectively meet the challenges of an evolving industry.
