As with all Federal Agencies, Shaw AFB is under a mandate from Executive Order 13123 to reduce its energy usage 35 percent by 2010, as compared to its 1985 usage. In order to reduce energy consumption, Shaw elected to partner with SRS and take advantage of the Utility Energy Services Contract (UESC), also known as the Utility Option, with CP&L – Progress Energy’s electric utility serving 1.2 million customers in North Carolina and South Carolina.
