SSCI signs agreement with NewEnergy to form energy buyer’s pool

In this energy buying pool, SSCI has negotiated competitive electricity prices and beneficial contract terms on behalf of its members with NewEnergy. SSCI members will be able to contract directly with NewEnergy to purchase electricity and may save up to 10 percent off the electricity generation portion of their bills.

NEW YORK, Sept. 12, 2000–Rising demand for natural gas–spurred by increased electric generation–is positioning Duke Energy to be a winner in today’s new energy market, Richard Priory, chairman, president and CEO of Duke Energy, reported at the Merrill Lynch Power & Gas Leaders Conference.
