Study: Texas ripe for competition in electric industry

The study, commissioned by the Association of Electric Companies of Texas (AECT), analyzes the landmark 1999 Texas Electric Choice Act in light of recent developments in the electric industry – including other states’ experience with competition and the dramatic rise in natural gas prices. The measure opens the retail market for electric power to the forces of competition for most Texans in January, 2002.
