Tensleep announces new addition to meter gateway product line

AUSTIN, Texas, June 14, 2002 — Tensleep Corp., a technology, product, business and corporate development company, announced the release of EnergyMatrixà¢â€ž- EM-103, which expands the meter gateway product line.

Appliance Partners is continuing to develop new Internet enabled meter data communications products for the energy and water markets, and has further enhanced the EnergyMatrixà¢â€ž- design to provide a cost effective nonmetallic enclosure alternative targeted for interior environments.

While similar in functionality to other EnergyMatrixà¢â€ž- devices, the EM-103 will become an inexpensive alternative for interior installations, and uses a flexible wall mounted DC power supply in place of an enclosed power supply. The EM-103 is planned to be commercially available this fall.

The EnergyMatrixà¢â€ž- series of products was designed to provide real time access to metered energy and water consumption data to support time-of-use rates and demand response programs that help moderate peak energy usage in the United States. Information provided through use of these products can give consumers, municipalities, and property managers the knowledge they need to capitalize on favorable time-of-use utility rates, and provide utilities with the means to implement energy buyback and load curtailment programs.

“Appliance Partners is pleased to provide an enabling technology that is so relevant in recently’s volatile electric power markets,” stated Dennis Kaliher, AP’s director of marketing. “Industry organizations such as the Peak Load Management Alliance and the Center for the Advancement of Energy Markets have come out strongly in favor of time-of-use rates and implementation of advanced metering solutions that are essential for measurement of industry load reduction and curtailment efforts.”

Appliance Partners is a strategic partnership formed in 2000 between Appliance-Lab and Tensleep Corp. for the purpose of providing better communications in the use of energy management systems in the energy and utility industries. Tensleep Corp. acquires and licenses technology and develops high-tech, Internet related and energy management system companies. The company’s subsidiaries and strategic partners are focused in developing, manufacturing and selling Internet and communications products, services and solutions in niche markets.
