Topping the GIS Software Market

A report released by Dataquest shows that Intergraph Software Solutions continues to lead the worldwide GIS software market. Intergraph held the top spot in 1995 with $151.1 million in company software revenue according to the “CAD/CAM/CAE/GIS Market Share Update” report. The report shows Intergraph held the software lead in 1993, 1994 and now 1995, as well as its large head start on the Window NT market share, especially for GIS applications on Microsoft`s Windows NT operating system. “Intergraph held 93 percent of the NT market for GIS applications and is leading the way as this group of technical end users choose the Windows NT option,” said Kathey Hale, Dataquest analyst. In addition, Dataquest has forecast that Windows NT GIS revenues will surpass UNIX GIS revenues by the year 2000.
