Transalta power generating unit down for repairs

The 300-megawatt (MW) unit was shut down August 3 when an examination of the boiler indicated cracks in some tubing. Further investigation showed the unit needs extensive repairs to meet operating standards. TransAlta’s other generating units are not at risk of this kind of incident.

BARTLESVILLE, Okla., Oct. 12, 2000–Phillips Petroleum Co., Bartlesville, Okla., said Thursday it has sold its coal interests in three separate transactions for $191 million, representing a $48 million aftertax gain.
