Translator Connects Different Systems

Hathaway Industrial Automation has announced the availability of Info/Mation Translator Systems that are used to interconnect dissimilar process control devices and systems and place information obtained from them into a common database format. The systems have a wide range of protocol drivers that provide communications to and from programmable logic controllers (PLC), input/output families, RTUs, drive systems, smart instruments, valve systems and other types of control products and systems. This makes data from these devices available to other systems through an open database structure and gives information and supervisory systems access to that data using standard database tools.

“Hathaway Translator Systems can be used to connect dissimilar systems. Now DCS systems can communicate with PLC and drive systems, or allow two PLC systems from different manufacturers to communicate with each other,” said Day Stephens, Hathaway Industrial Automation`s vice president.

All Translator products are built from off-the-shelf hardware and software is POSIX-compliant. Translators use TCP/IP communication network standards, open data structures, SQL and other software standards. Hathaway Industrial Automation, located in Hunt Valley, Md., has several Info/Mation systems installed around the world.
