TXU Electric links North and South Texas with new 345 kV line

A new electricity superhighway was officially opened for commercial operation today at TXU Electric’s transmission control center. The $62 million, 88-mile line is the largest built in the past 20 years in Texas and will double the amount of electricity that can be moved from South to North Texas to serve customers.

ARLINGTON, Va., May 14, 2001 — The AES Corporation announced today that AES Huntington Beach received its certification from the California Energy Commission and is set to commence construction on the refurbishment of two retired gas-fired units that will add an additional 450 megawatts of generation in the electricity-strapped state of California.
