TXU Gas rolls out 100 mobile data units

CALGARY, ALBERTA, September 20, 2001 – Wireless Matrix Corporation announced today the rollout of 100 mobile data units for TXU Gas, a subsidiary of TXU Corporation, a Dallas-based global energy services company.

TXU Gas is utilizing Wireless Matrix’ wireless data services, integrated with their application suite from MDSI Mobile Data Solutions Inc., to improve the dynamic management of its mobile field technicians in business-critical operating environments, particularly for those geographic areas which are outside the reach of traditional terrestrial wireless networks.

The total market opportunity for mobile data services in the gas and electric utilities market comprises approximately 650,000 vehicles. TXU Gas is the fourth major U.S. utility to join the Wireless Matrix service network.
