UCA International to participate in CIGRE 2004 advancing interoperability for the utility enterprise

UCA International will be present at the 40th CIGRE General Session and Exhibition next August 29th through September 3rd, 2004 at the “Palais des Congres” in Paris, France. There are two main events planned to increase awareness of the users group activities and technologies fostered.

The UCA International Users Group Meeting will be held simultaneously with the CIGRE conferences. The meeting format is a series of informative presentations open to the public. A general introduction to the users group will be followed by technical works presenting the state of the art, and the actual benefits utilities are already experiencing by applying the communication standards under the users group umbrella. Special emphasis will be placed in the IEC 61850 standard. The meeting will be held in Room 242A on Wednesday, September 1st.

Additionally, UCA International is hosting a booth with 13 members participating in a live interoperability demonstration of IEC 61850. Exhibiting companies are: ABB, AREVA T&D, GE, KEMA, LiveData, OMICRON, RuggedCom, SEL, Siemens, SISCO, TMT&D, VA TECH, and ZIV Aplicaciones y Tecnologia. This is an excellent opportunity to learn first hand about the existing solutions available to the industry. Also, the available communication functionalities among these devices are demonstrated. A series of different tests will be staged to demonstrate the capabilities of this revolutionary communications architecture. Please visit the UCA International display at Booth 48.
