Umbrella files patent to reduce power consumption and improve signal quality in wireless devices

With a 45% upsurge energy usage estimated by utility analysts over the next few years, and threats of an energy crisis on the horizon, wireless makers are increasingly focused on power management issues in their development of new products.

LOS ANGELES, March 30, 2001–Advanced Communications Technologies Inc. today announced that one of its Australian-based affiliates, Australon Limited, has executed initial documentation with Aurora Energy Pty Ltd, and other utility companies regarding the establishment of the company’s proposed utilities project for the provision of real-time remote interval meter reading and a variety of other exciting value-added services (utilising the company’s remote utility monitoring system and ALon home gateway device) throughout the areas serviced by the respective utilities.
