U.S. agency raises long-term electricity demand projection

The U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) said higher demand will result from higher projected economic growth and a reevaluation of the potential for growth in electricity use in residential and commercial appliances and equipment, including personal computers.

Dec. 27, 2000–NRG Energy Inc. will acquire two coal-fired power plants in New England for $325 million from Wisconsin Energy Corp.
