US carbon dioxide emissions rise at fastest rate since 1996

HOUSTON, July 2, 2001 – US carbon dioxide emissions from burning fossil fuels rose 2.7% in 2000, the highest rate of increase since 1996, a government agency reported.

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif., July 2, 2001 – The California Energy Commission announced its award of over $6 million dollars to a new team of municipal utilities in California committed to renewable energy.
