U.S. consumers show increasing interest in generating their own electricity

As technical advances bring smaller, quieter and more affordable generating units closer to reality, the survey shows that a discernible market is emerging among upscale households. And this market is wide open to a variety of entrants, according to the findings. Indeed, a major finding indicates that consumers are ambivalent whether manufacturers, utilities, or retail outlets provide the equipment as long as the power is reliable.
