Vegetation management company acquires SRI for field mapping

Kent, OH, Jan. 10, 2007 — The Davey Tree Expert Co. has acquired Southeastern Reprographics Inc. (SRI), an asset management firm headquartered in Alpharetta, Georgia. SRI will operate as a unit of the Davey Resource Group (DRG), the company’s consulting division.

SRI provides field inventory and mapping services to the electric utility industry specializing in GPS mapping and AM/FM/GIS production. The Davey Tree Expert Co.’s utility services division provides line clearance and vegetation management services throughout North America.

Pat Covey, Davey executive VP and DRG general manager, believes the acquisition of SRI will expand DRG’s opportunities in field mapping, map conversion, data integration and new services like automated meter reading implementation. “Field mapping, from collection to implementation, is increasingly important for outage management, engineering analysis and customer data maintenance,” he said. “The SRI operations include GIS and IT expertise that completes our offerings,” said Covey.
