Vivid Learning Systems launches online utility training site

RICHLAND, Wash., March 18, 2002 — Vivid Learning Systems, a specialist in web and CD-ROM-based compliance and regulatory training programs, has announced a new training site designed specifically for utilities.

The Vivid portal delivers a Learning Management System and more than 70 training titles for the utility industry as a turnkey solution. The training site and lessons are easily customized to meet the specifications of their customers.

Vivid’s compliance training is designed to allow employees to demonstrate their knowledge through a “test out” feature that gives employees credit for what they already know and then delivers whatever compliance knowledge is lacking via self-paced interactive computer training. Delivered on the web this training is accessible 24/7.

“Based on feedback from many utilities, I have found that efficiencies are being gained by shifting some classroom training to web-delivered format. This tends to free up and instructors limited time to concentrate on near miss, OJT, hands-on or company specific training,” says Shawn Simon, the Vivid Utility Industry Manager.

Vivid’s training has proven to dramatically reduce non-productive labor hours (by more than 65%). The lessons are dedicated to the cognitive portion of safety compliance training and retention. The average time traditionally needed to complete a lesson topic is 1 hour. Using Vivid’s compliance training, the average time is reduced to 18 minutes to complete the same lesson.

The Vivid training programs are designed specifically for the compliance training needs of the utility industry with key testing, tracking and training features desired by training managers and HR departments.

More than 300 utility customers, many in the Fortune 100, use Vivid’s training products.
