Wholesale gas and power boost Enron’s second quarter

HOUSTON, July 12, 2001 — Enron Corp. reported strong second quarter growth in earnings to $404 million, compared to $289 million in the 2000 second quarter, pushed by a doubling of profits before taxes in wholesale gas and power services.

FAIRFIELD, Conn., July 12, 2001— GE’s second-quarter earnings of $3.897 billion were the highest for any quarter in the Company’s history, Chairman John F. Welch reported today.
