WP&L requests wholesale electric formula rate structure

Madison, WI, Sept. 26, 2006 — Wisconsin Power and Light Co. (WP&L), an Alliant Energy company, filed requests on Sept. 22 with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) to implement a formula rate structure for its wholesale electric customers.

The proposed rate structure uses formulas, based on historical data that adjust annually, to determine applicable wholesale rates. Such historical data is audited by the company’s external auditors, is publicly available and is submitted by WP&L to FERC in annual filings.

WP&L will request that the new rates become effective on Jan 1, 2007, subject to refund pending the final outcome of the case.
