Xicor and IEPD announce power management alliance

The X3100 is a protection and monitor IC for use in battery packs consisting of 3 or 4 Lithium-Ion battery cells. The device includes internal over-voltage, under-voltage and over-current protection circuitry with selectable threshold levels, internal EEPROM memory for storing battery pack calibration and security information, an internal voltage regulator, and fully integrated drive circuitry for external FET devices used to control cell charging and discharging. The X3100 also integrates a unique cell balancing architecture to optimize cell balancing during charging.
