Power Measurement’s ION 8300 meter certified for California ISO metering applications

VICTORIA, BC, April 25, 2003 — Power Measurement, a provider of enterprise energy management systems, has announced that its ION 8300â„- intelligent energy meter is now certified by the California Independent System Operator (CAISO).

This standing certifies that the ION 8300 (v232) power and energy meter is compliant with CAISO standard MTR10-99, and is therefore approved for use in California ISO metering applications. The revenue-accurate ION 8300 is the third Power Measurement meter to achieve CAISO approval, alongside the company’s ION 8400 and ION 8500 revenue meters.
Available in both socket-mount and switchboard styles, the three ION 8000-series products represent a new class of billing meter, optimized for grid and ISO applications across an increasingly competitive marketplace.

Each of the Internet-ready meters can monitor the quantity and reliability of power at critical inter-tie points across the grid, while enabling energy suppliers to offer their customers a unique and cost-effective value-added service.

Web-ready features such as MeterM@il® e-mail messaging and WebMeter® web-browser support provide a means for the utility to help its customers reduce energy costs, diagnose operational problems, and verify power quality throughout their facilities.

And because the information comes directly from the meter, the consumer can get the latest information in real-time, and respond immediately to changing conditions.

Established in 1996, the California ISO organization acts as the electricity traffic control center for California’s “electron highway” which spans three-quarters of the state. Since then, the California ISO approved meter list has become a reference standard for other states seeking a benchmark for their own ISO applications. For more on the California ISO certification, visit the CAISO web site at www.caiso.com/clientserv/metering.

The ION 8300 is available now from Power Measurement. For more information, contact Power Measurement at 866-466-7627, or visit the Power Measurement web site at http://www.pwrm.com/Products/devices/ION8300/.
